Biography
I began training in Taekwondo during the summer of 2016. I started because I was looking for an activity that resonated well with me. I had tried soccer for a few years, took multiple swim lessons, and even learned ice skating as a precursor to hockey, but none of it clicked. I joined Taekwondo in hopes that it would be the sport that I enjoy. Multiple years later, I can confidently say that it is. Taekwondo has given me discipline, self-confidence, a group of friends, and has kept me in shape. It helped cast in stone that idea that you mold your future by the effort that you put in.
I’ve always thought that teaching others is fun. For years in school, my peers would come to me for help in their academics, since I generally performed very well. It always felt like a self-fulfilling experience, dedicating your time for the betterment of others – making an impact when needed. With respect to Taekwondo, it was around the winter of 2022 when I started having aspirations to teach, but it was not until the summer of 2023 when I had actually begun assisting. The original plan was just to help for the summer, but it was such a self-fulfilling experience that I decided to continue down the path of instruction. I love making that impact, seeing everyone’s faces when they learn something new – I love bringing that enjoyment to learning.
Outside of Taekwondo, I am a student on the Physics track at the Ohio State University. I am currently in the Honors program as a Physics major and Mathematics minor. When not on break, this takes up the majority of my time. At home, I am the eldest to my three siblings, Leah, Weston, and Adeline. We also have a mini goldendoodle named Chloe. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, compose music, tend to the garden and plants outside, and watch documentaries. If I sound like a nerd, that’s because I am!
