Biography
My martial arts journey started in 2012 when my dad signed me up for classes; I was 12 years old, and up until that point, none of my previous activities had really stuck. That changed when I started Taekwondo, though! I immediately felt like I was part of a team, more than I had felt with any other sport, and over the next few years, I could feel my confidence growing as I became a teenager.
I joined the instructor program about a year into my taekwondo training. It’s not something I necessarily wanted to do at first; I wasn’t a natural at it, nor did I see the benefits of it yet, but I am SO GLAD I stuck with it. I was able to break through my mental barrier and grow in confidence as a young trainee instructor. Even though it was difficult, and I didn’t always realize how much it would be worth it, I truly enjoy being able to guide students of all ages towards their goals in Taekwondo. The most rewarding moment is when a student develops the mental belief that they are capable of doing something physically challenging in Taekwondo, and seeing the moment when something finally “clicks”. There is nothing in life that beats that, because it can then be used as a moment to build upon, anywhere in life.
Outside of martial arts (and of course in), I do my best everyday to support those around me in accomplishing their goals and becoming the best version of themselves. I know that, if I can help those around me stay propped up, then I will have the mental clarity to also accomplish whatever I desire. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games for leisure and exploring nature, though my biggest hobby is music and guitar. As I always say, music is life! It keeps me grounded and focused on my goals everyday.
