Biography
I began Taekwondo here at ATA in 2020, when I was 12 years old, just as activities were resuming after COVID. I was invited to ATA by a close friend who had been training for multiple years. Prior to joining ATA, I never really took to regular sports. I was constantly jumping from one sport to the next, due to being bored or uninterested. ATA was the first activity that I stuck with and enjoyed. I’ve grown as a person, learning valuable social skills that I had not developed before, and became a more athletic and well-rounded individual.
I became interested in teaching roughly 8 months into my training. I quickly gained respect for my instructors, admiring their quick thinking, kindness, and the way that they could capture my attention in class. This, along with my peers who were also interested in teaching, led me to join the Leadership Program, so that I could learn how to teach and lead others. After much hard work, the opportunity arose for me to begin instructing. It’s hard to put into words how teaching has benefitted me. I love being able to positively impact my students, as well as having the community of my peers and fellow instructors.
Outside of Taekwondo, I enjoy spending time with my parents, my dogs, and my cat. I also enjoy multiple different hobbies. I love listening to music almost all the time, I play a number of instruments, I read all sorts of genres and authors of books, I create art with materials such as leather, and I work on my physical fitness by working out at the gym.
